Our Process
Developed & Certified by Experts
The key to any successful concrete coating installation is in the prep work. A great deal of detailed prep work goes into each of our project’s, prior to any of the “pretty stuff’ going down. At EMC Concrete Coatings, we have invested a great number of resources in ensuring our technicians are operating the most state-of-the-art concrete preparation equipment available. No steps will be cut when the EMC crew shows up at your door. Our trailers are stocked with brand new diamond grinders and HEPA vacuums. In addition to the most cutting-edge equipment we utilize, our techs are also certified installation experts at epoxies, polys, and other resinous flooring materials.
Prep Work
First—EMC technicians will prep the floor with state-of-the-art diamond grinders. A concrete hardness test will be completed, and the proper grinding diamonds will be selected for your floor.
Next – Our technicians will fill any cracks, chips, or other deficiencies in the floor with a flexible polyurea crack repair material. Once the material is dry, all repair work will be ground smooth.
Installation
EMC techs will then apply a tinted polyurea base coat for a durable foundation. Our techs will then cast the selected decorative chips by hand to provide optimal color and texture to both the floor and any vertical stem walls (concrete).
After the chips have dried, our techs will run a floor sander across the floor to remove all loose chips and to smooth the surface. Sanding as opposed to scraping is a much more efficient way to prep the floor for its final topcoat. The chips maintain a much more uniform appearance and the clear coat glides over the top, as opposed to soaking into a rough/scraped floor.
Clear Coating
Final — The final step in the process is to apply a high-gloss polyaspartic topcoat(s). Two coats are optional for ultimate cleanability and durability. The UV ready topcoat seals, protects, and enhances the colors of your new floor!
